As a History Major and a Graphic Design Minor, I felt that a composition rooted in Art History was fitting for my final project. With approval from my instructor, I chose to do a propaganda poster reminiscient of the Cold War. The compostion has a dual premise: (1) To remind the viewer of the struggle Americans went through during the Cold War and (2) to invite to viewer to consider how socialism is affecting our nation today, over 20 years after the Berlin Wall fell.
My major issue in this composition was finding a font that looked "Soviet", but was also recognizable to American/English speaking viewers. After an exhastive brainstorming session I devised my own font to express the "Red Scare" essence of the piece.
